The organisation
The Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists is the national umbrella organisation for a network of press clubs focusing on rural and regional Australia.
The not-for-profit organisation brings together four rural press clubs:
• Farm Writers' Association of NSW Inc
• Rural Media South Australia
• Rural Media Association of Western Australia
• Rural Press Club of Queensland
• Rural Press Club of Victoria
These organisations provide an important forum for issues affecting regional communities and the rural sector. Most meet monthly and all provide significant networking opportunities.
They bring together rural, regional and metropolitan media, and diverse individual and corporate members interested in these issues, including:
• Journalists, editors, photographers and managers of metropolitan and regional-based media organisations;
• Key decision makers and managers of leading agribusiness companies and institutions;
• State and Federal politicians, ministerial press secretaries and researchers;
• Senior executive and communication officers from rural industry organisations;
• Researchers and technical advisers from the government sector;
• Professional consultants and management from the private sector, including agronomists, farm management
consultants, advertising agencies, public relations consultants;
• Representatives of leading national financial institutions; and
• Leading farmers and other rural entrepreneurs.
Official patron
Official patron of the ACAJ is the Federal Minister Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
