Newspaper columnist namd first Rural Media Icon

Well-known media advocate for regional and rural issues, Angela Goode has been inducted as the inaugural South Australian Rural Media Icon.

ABC Rural national editor Leigh Radford presented the honour to a surprised Goode at the May gathering of the local rural media press club, Rural Media South Australia.

Sponsored by Rural Solutions SA, the award is a new concept created by RMSA to pay tribute to people who make a significant contribution to the rural media sector in South Australia.

A columnist for The Advertiser since the early 1980s, Angela Goode has broadcast a weekly segment on farm and rural matters for the ABC's Country Hour and written technical stories for agricultural journals. She is also an accomplished author of best-selling books such as Great Working Dog Stories which has sold hundreds of thousands of copies nationally.

From her home on a sheep and beef property near Naracoorte, Angela writes the only regular column in an Australian metropolitan newspaper dedicated to rural issues
