Rural Press Club of Victoria
The Rural Press Club of Victoria was founded in 1966 by a group of rural journalists and public relations consultants. It as formed to offer a forum for fellowship for people involved in the rural industry, particularly working rural journalists.
The club offers monthly networking functions with a key speaker on topical rural and regional affairs.
A major highlight is the State Rural Journalism Awards. These awards are hotly contested by journalists and photographers from across the State with a presentation ceremony and formal dinner traditionally held in August.
The Rural Press Club is open to membership of all people interested in rural industry. Members are country and metropolitan-based journalists with others drawn from agribusiness organisations, financial, government, marketing and public relations firms with rural interests.
In a major initiative to service the whole State, functions in Melbourne are relayed to regional areas by a Telstra Country Wide interactive video link. Regional members and guests can attend at Bendigo, Ballarat, Mildura, Sale, Shepparton or Albury.
